Since 2005, the Local Public Policy Monitoring and Assessment Programme services has sought to drive the processes to assess and monitor local action annually or every two years. The programme provides municipalities with greater knowledge of the status and progress of their action plan, along with the sustainable development indicators.

Specifically, it drives the assessment of the plans and guarantees technical support and uniform and external validation of those individual assessments. Furthermore, it gives impetus to the calculation of Municipal Sustainable Development Indicators, by facilitating supramunicipal data from common sources. It allows reports to be obtained on the evolution and contribution of their actions and indicators with respect to the SDGs, and with average data for the BAC, for their internal and external use.
