Responding to and addressing global needs is one of Udalsarea 2030's challenges. The contribution of local and public policies is therefore fundamental to deal with the challenges, including poverty, climate change and gender equality. The United Nations (UN) Assembly thus drew up a list of Sustainable Development Goals to act as a roadmap for the 2030 Agenda.
SDG list:
Endorsed by Udalsarea 2030's 20-year track record, its members are working on the transition of the governance model promoted at the time by the Agenda 21 towards the new model based on the 2030 Agenda.
The evolution that began structurally in 2018 has continued. One such change is Udalasarea 21 becoming Udalasarea 2030 in 2019. The 2030 Agenda seeks to be the link between different levels of the administration in this new stage. The development of the 2030 Agenda is linked to and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. One of the Udalsarea 2030 goals is for the network members to continue with sustainability actions and good practices that contribute to complying with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The first step in this transition has been to prepare the reports on the local policies' contribution and SDGs. Tools have been adapted to facilitate the transition and a handbook prepared for the adoption for Local 2030 Agendas.
